This exclusive WAGNER program was developed in response to concerns about our lakes and rivers. Offered exclusively to waterfront property owners, there are several aspects of the "Waterfront Friendly" program.
Low Phosphorus, 100% Organic Fertilizer
Phosphorus feeds algae. The greater the concentration of phosphorus in water, the greater possibility algae will flourish. Algae uses up oxygen. The more algae, the more oxygen used and hence, less for fish and other aquatic life. However, our fertilizer does have the needed nitrogen and potash, as well as a host of trace micro-nutrients to provide balanced nutrition for your waterfront lawn. Furthermore, our fertilizers slow release properties minimize leaching and feed your waterfront property for 6 - 8 weeks.
One 100% Organic Bio-Stimulant Spray
“Wagner’s new proprietary organic bio-stimulant spray is a blend of seaweed, various micronutrients, and plant extracts including neem oil. Regular use of this biodegradable spray will improve the overall health of your lawn by increasing the soils water and nutrient holding capacity, increasing root structure and mass. It’s like a multi-vitamin for your lawn! As a result, your grass will be less susceptible to environmental stresses like insects and drought, and be greener and healthier.
Aerating
Prior to spring fertilizing, aerating is done for several reasons.
a. Aerating increases water penetration into the soil meaning less runoff into the lake.
b. Aerating allows fertilizer and oxygen to reach the root zone, increasing root development.
c. Aerating breaks down the thatch layer, hindering insect and weed infestation.
d. Aerating prepares the lawn for over-seeding.
5' Buffer Zone For Fertilizing
To ensure no fertilizer enters the water, WAGNER leaves a five foot buffer zone from the shoreline. If there is a heavy rain, the possibility of any fertilizer reaching the water is greatly reduced as at is absorbed in the buffer zone.
Site Specific Weed Control
Our low phosphorus, 100% organic fertilizer does not contain chemicals, and there will be some weed infestation in any property. While weeds can be reduced by our program of promoting a healthy lawn, site specific weed control applications are usually necessary to really control unwanted weeds. However, with our "Waterfront Friendly" program we only apply weed control to affected areas, and as in any WAGNER program, we use the least amount of pesticide needed to do the job safely yet efficiently and effectively.
Over-Seeding
Over-seeding with quality grass seed, appropriate to the specific property, increases turf thickness and greater filtration occurs as the grass stand is improved. Hence less water runoff, less weed control required, and more oxygen released by the grass plants.
