• There is no need to do weed control more than twice per season, unless you have some of the hard to kill weeds described on next page. Even in these cases, Wagner will not spray the entire lawn again, but will spot spray only those areas where the "tough" weeds were not eradicated."

Some info on the weed control we use!

    Wagner Lawn Care uses “Killex”, a Green Cross product. Killex is probably the best know and most identifiable weed control product on the market. Wagner has used other similar products in the past but has found we get the best results from Killex.

    Killex is non-volatile, which means it doesn’t vaporize during or after application. The smell of weed control product, Killex, is unpleasant to some, but harmless. Nevertheless, Wagner utilizes a special perfume additive to every spray application to stop the unpleasant odour. The perfume additive is supplied by the Professional Lawn Care Association of Ontario, and comes in "Cherry" scent and "Bubblegum" scent. This is an added cost to Wagner, but we believe it adds great value to our programs!

    Killex breaks down quickly in soil or water as bacteria adapt quickly to it and use it as an energy source. As a result, Killex degrades to water, carbon dioxide, and humus within a month or less of the application.

    To our knowledge, Wagner is the only company in our area which adds “Valid” to our sprays. Valid is a thickener which helps to ensure the sprays hit and stick only to their intended targets. As the name implies, Valid aids in stopping the sprays from drifting onto unintended targets like flowers, vegetables or trees. It is an extra expense for us, but a practice we believe is beneficial for everyone!
