over-seeding

If your lawn is thinning out, appearing weak or just not a healthy looking as it should be, over-seeing may be your answer.

Over-seeding is always more effective when done in conjunction with aeration. Aeration prior to over-seeding will increase your germination rate. When over-seeding Wagner uses a high quality seed mix with endophytes that has a blend of perennial rye grasses and fescues – an excellent premium seed mix custom ordered specifically for over-seeding.

Why Wagner uses high quality seed with endophytes.

“The term ‘endophytic’ refers to a situation where one organism lives inside the other. In the case of turfgrass, a fungus and the grass form a relationship that is mutually beneficial and enhances the reproductive success of each. These endophytes are transferred from plant to plant via seed. While there is no visible sign of the fungus on the host plants, the mycelium grows on the sheath, stem and leaf tissues of developing grass seedlings.

Endophytic-infected grasses tend to be comparatively vigorous especially under conditions of minimal fertilization or irrigation. Infected plants produce a greater number of tillers and roots, making them more drought tolerant, more competitive with weeds, able to recover quicker from injury, and are generally more persistent.

Endophytic grasses have shown high resistance to insects such as chinch bugs and sod web worms. Biologically active alkaloids are found only in infected grasses – and these compounds have insecticidal effect deterring insect infestations.”
